Error while DLing MS Virtual Machine from Windows Update

I accidentally dumped my Java virtual machine. Well, at the time I thought
I knew what I was doing. You know how THAT goes...

When trying to re-DL it, I'm told I need a newer version of Microsoft
Virtual Machine and to go to Windows Update to get a copy. When I activate
the DL link I get two error pop boxes:

1: Error Starting Program (This is the pop box title)

    The Q816093_W2K_SP4_X86_EN[1].EXE file is
    linked to missing export NTDLL.DLL:NtShutdownSystem.

2: Access to specified device, path or file is denied.
    (C:\Windows\bla, bla, bla)

Anybody know what gives? Any way around this to get my Java VM reinstalled?
I know Sun and Microsoft have been snarling at each other lately, but jeez!

    Thanks!
