I have an existing website, and email that I have hosted. I am getting an
sbs 2003 server, to host my own email and rww. I still want to have the
website hosted externally but I want to host my own email, and use rww. I am
going to have my isp host my dns, if they create a cname record for
remote.mydomain.com and exchange.mydomain.com to point to my static ip, will
everything still work the way i want it to. As far as people being able to
go to www.mydomain.com, and remote.mydomain.com. Also if I have my existing
hosting company create a new mx record with a lower priority now pointing to
exchange.mydomain.com, when I get my server up and running, and change the mx
records, won't I have a much smoother transition from the hosting company to
my own exchange server. Thanks for all the help.

  2. Have them create 1 A record.
remote.domainname.com which points to your public IP

Have them create 1 MX record with a priority of 0 pointing to the A record
    above

URL for OWA would then be remote.domainname.com/exchange
URL for RWW would be remote.domainname.com/remote

    cnames are not advised

Also have them create a reverse lookup to your public IP or you'll have
email sending issues an SPF record as well

When you run the "connect to email and internet wizard" (CEICW) you will
then specific remote.domainname.com as your URL

You can only have one SSL Cert so you can only have one URL associated for
    both OWA and RWW
