I'm trying to export my messages from WLM to Outlook 2007, which is easy
enough in itself. However the problem I am having is that it doesn't import
my stored folders in the correct order. It uses an old file structure that I
used to use in OE. I have reorganised my folders in WLM (but this is not
reflected when I look at the storage folder in explorer (they appear to be
disconnected.) It took hours to restructure my folders and I don't want to do
it again. How can I re-index (?) the storage folders so that I can export
them to Outlook (in the same file strucutre) ?

I am using XP SP3, WLM Beta, Outlook 2007

Your question needs to be asked in the Outlook newsgroup.

Thanks but the problem isn't with Outlook. The problem is Windows Live Mail.
The folder structure in WLM and the folder structure in explorer is
different. If I export in WLM format to a new folder it still exports it in
the wrong (different) structure (the old Outlook Express one)

  4. If you want to straighten that out, it's going to be a lot of work.

If you want the operating system folder structure to be the same as the
WLM structure you must NEVER Move or Rename a folder in WLM. When you
move or rename a folder in WLM it doesn't change the operating system
    folder structure.

What you need to do is if you want to move or rename a folder in WLM is
to create a new folder with the name and location that you want, then
move the messages from the old folder to the new folder and finally
    delete the old folder.

Outlook 2007(OL07) does not have an algorithm to import WLM messages(only Outlook Express and Eudora Pro).

To export messages from WLM to OL07(File/Export/Messages/Microsoft Exchange)
    - this option will export messages to Exchange or Outlook
    - you will be prompted to choose a Profile(if Outlook is already set up and configured WLM will find your Outlook profile)
    - once the profile is Ok'd, then WLM will prompt for 'All or Selected folders'(recommend choose the latter, the Control Key can be
used to select more than one folder)- See notes below

    1. Since WLM uses multiple folders for each email account(and messages may also be present in WLM's Storage Folders)importing from
WLM to OL will place 'all imported' messages in OL07's Inbox.
    2. Because of note(1)...Consider creating the folders in OL07 in advance, then selectively importing messages, then open OL and
move to appropriate folder, then repeat the process for other WLM folders until finished.
    3. Ensure OL is closed when exporting to your Outlook profile.

The alternative is to move your messages from WLM in to Outlook Express then use Outlook 2007 to import from Outlook Express. For
additional information....access OL2007's Help and enter 'import messages', then review the available methods(constraints) for
    importing from Outlook Express.
