When I try to send a document as a fax from office using
the "Send to Mail Recipient (as Attachment)" option on a
W2003 Terminal Server I get "The add
    in "C:\windows\system32\fxsext32.dll" could not be
installed or loaded" Select OK and you can carry on
addressing the document but the fax will fail to send.

If I remove Terminal services from the server all is well.

    Any pointers ?

The following methods of faxing from Office 2000 are not supported:

    - Using the "Send to mail recipient as attachment" option. Please see
the section above on faxing attachments from Outlook 2000.

    - Using the "Send document to fax recipient" option (and the associated
wizard) from Word 2000. Sending a document with the wizard cover page
could result in a truncated message and/or multiple fax calls to send
    the message.

    - Using the "Send to mail recipient" option from Excel 2000. This will
not format the outgoing message correctly.

Thanks for that, I am using SBS 2003 and I am using "Send to Mail Recipient
(As Attachment)" to send faxes from XP Pro Workstations without any problems.
Except that there is no receipt sent back to the outlook client.

The problem is on my W2003 Server. When I try to send a doc to a fax
address from the contact list using the (As Attachemnt) option, it somes back
immediately as Undeliverable with the following
The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

Abc (Business Fax) on 12/10/2004 11:35
The message could not be delivered because the recipient's
destination email system is unknown or invalid. Please check the address and
try again, or contact your system administrator to verify connectivity to the
    email system of the recipient.

This happens with OL2003 and OL2003 - All is well with OL2000

I have 15 users waiting for me to turn this server into a Metaframe Server
and let them loose. But I have to resolve this issue first.

ANy help would be greatly accepted.

What exactly did you mean by: This happens with OL2003 and OL2003

    1. Do you have the SBS shared fax client on the Win2k3 server?
    2. If Outlook is installed on the Win2k3 server can you send a fax from
Outlook using [FAX:<###-###-####>] in the to field with a word document as
    an attachment?
    3. Does adding the adding the Microsoft Shared Fax Mail Transport to the
    Outlook services resolve this issue?
    1. Right-click the Outlook 2003 icon, and then click Properties.
    2. Click the E-mail Accounts... button.
    3. Click "View or change existing e-mail accounts", and then click Next.
    4. Click Add.
    5. Click Additional Server Types, and then click Next.
    6. Click "Microsoft Shared Fax Mail Transport", and then click Next.
    7. Click OK when you receive the following prompt:
The E-mail Account you have just added will not start until you choose
Exit from the File menu, and then restart Microsoft Outlook.
    8. Click Finish.
    9. Click Close.

That was a typo it should have read OL2002 and OL2003

Here is the issue step by step.

If, from a W2003 member Server in an SBS2003 Domain, I try to send a Fax
using the "Send To Mail Recipient(As Attachment)" option from word 2000,
and address it using a Business Fax from one of my OL2003 contacts, that is
being powered by Exchange 2003 SBS, I get an Undeliverable Message from the
    Mail Administrator as per below:-

    ================================================

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

    Subject: Document1
    Sent: 12/10/2004 18:13

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

Abc (Business Fax) on 12/10/2004 18:13
The message could not be delivered because the recipient's
destination email system is unknown or invalid. Please check the address
and try again, or contact your system administrator to verify connectivity to
the email system of the recipient.

    ====================================================

If I just use the Send To Mail recipient option or indeed select the
Shared Fax as a printer, everythig works fine.

I also have 11 XP Pro PCs With Office 2000 STD and OL2003 and they do not
    have a problem.

It appears to be a W2K3/ Exchange 2003/OL2003 with Word 2000 Issue.

I have a chargable call logged with Microsoft for over a week now so I am
trying alternate avenues for help, while I wait.

Are we using Word 2000 with Outlook 2003?

    Hi John

After a lot of server rebuilding and installing and patching of OL2003 I
have come to the conclusion that the Microsoft Shared Fax Mail Transport
Service is not W2K3 Terminal Server aware.

I bit the bullet and have installed GFI FAXmaker for Exchange. Its a piece
of cake and works thru' ol2003 without any need for a FAX Service or FAX
    mail transport service.

Thks for your efforts though. I did solve my initial problem by rebuilding
the server, installing OL2003, then installing Office 2000 without OL2000 and
then running the Detect and Repair from OL2003. But it just would not work
    in Terminal Services Mode.

    Regards
