Feature request: close current tab by Close Window button

Discussion in 'Internet Explorer' started by Alexander Melkov, Dec 17, 2006.

  1. After years of non-tabber browsing :), now I sometimes press browser window's
Close button when I only need to close one tab. Rather annoying dialog box
    comes up after that...

Selecting "don't show me this dialog again" won't do because I don't want to
    close remaining tabs.

I'd like another option in that dialog, "close current tab only".

Apparently, "don't show me this dialog again" option should also apply to
    this choice.

I think, though, that Alt+F4 or system menu Close should have separate
preferences: the desired action is most likely to close all tabs because we
see tabs right below system menu (unless the window has been minimized :)).

  3. Thank you for your humour.

Apparently the second I see The One Lovely "X" in the upper-right corner of
the window any other "X"'es cease to exist for me.

  4. Using the Ctrl-w instead of Alt-F4 is a useful new habit to develop
    and largely avoids that problem.

  5. Thank you for your suggestion, my message was not about Alt+F4 anyway (see
    the text you just quoted).

    Totally agree with the suggestion.
It's very simple to implement, but will greatly improve tab experience
Dear MS, Please add this option - "close current tab" on browser's [X] button
