Feature Requests for WLM 8.5

Discussion in 'Windows Live Messenger' started by GoodThings2Life, Sep 8, 2007.

  1. Obviously you can't actually read, then, because I clearly indicated (as did
    Jonathan) that it only solved 2 out of 5 issues.

    Furthermore, they are hack patches, not add-ons, so I have to question
    whether it's in Microsoft's interest to "recommend" that solution here when
    elsewhere in the company the activity is clearly forbidden.

    you are right; I cannot read

    MS did not recommend any hacks or patches and users have to take the risk;
    wondering where MS did encourage users to use 3rd party's hacks

    MS was discussing to buy over one of the hackers but the deal fell through

    time to kill this thread. period.

    you and your friend can whine for all you want but in the end you won't get
    what you want

    bye bye and have a nice day

    btw Jonathan is a MPV; he doesn't work for MS and has no influence in
    decision making;

    I repeat:

    At least I know I'm in the right and I can sleep with that.

    This is MS support newsgroups; meant primarily to assist users to find a
    Yes, this newsgroup is meant *primarily* (and not only) to assist users with
    their problems. When we talk about problems, we talk about solutions, and
    talking about problems and solutions, new ideas and features can be
    discussed. Usually when an user requests a new feature or change that's
    because he's not satisfied and an unsatisfied customer is a problem for every
    company.

    But I agree with you, it's time to end this conversation and you may start
    first.

  7. Hi,

    Just to throw in, people from the Messenger team (especially PMs who have direct influence on
    future functionality) do visit this newsgroup and seeing someone suggest something they have
    in their mind will most likely "push" it forward.

    Feature requests are on topic for the newsgroup. I've always enjoyed hearing them.

    it's nice that you understand an unsatisified customer has every right to
    make a valid complaint
    but you forgot something;
    WLM is free and if the user do not like the features, one can always switch
    to other instant messengers;
    even if you are paying for software or applications, I doubt very much any
    company will want to entertain your request for changes;
    you are not the only one who is using the software; sure, you are welcome
    to suggest new features but whether your request is being considered,
    there's another matter.

    I am a ex tester of Office 2007. Part of the discussions include how awful
    the interface was; we provided feedback;
    I didn't like the interface and the new changes to the file extension;
    reason ? not everyone that I know is quick to adopt the latest software. MS
    provided a solution; users are allowed to save the files in formats prior to
    2007. I still did not like the interface; result? bye bye Office 2007

    when in a discussion, always do it with an open mind
    there are 2 sides to a coin

    You're not in the position to teach me anything, I'm sorry.

    I have already answered you and I'm tired of this conversation, since your
    arguments are based only in your limited point of view, in your "guesses" and
    "I think"s. If you can't understand, fine, that's your problem. You're still
    wrong and Jonathan Kay [MVP] has already told us that this place is very open
    to the discussion of new features. Your answers tell us who needs to grow up.

  13. This comment from the person who has posted 13+ messages about how this isn't
    the place for feature submissions and discussions only to be told he's wrong
    by three people.

    From the WLM Blog:

    Important Details:

    * Get Messenger 8.5 Beta 2 here
    * Send feedback here (which I used in addition to...)
    * Talk about it here (links to here)
    * Get support here

  14. OK, see, here's the difference:

    Plus is an actual add-on. It makes NO modifications to the WLM files or
    functions. It simply and effectively offers ADDITIONAL functionality.

    MessPatch and A-Patch directly modify the WLM files, therefore they are
    hacks/patches.

    I am glad to see that three people here, including an MVP, can identify that
    simple reality.

    I came here with constructive feedback for a product that the WLM team has
    specifically asked for feedback on. I expected to hear a response from them
    and other supporters... not to have my thread hijacked by an idiot. I guess I
    should have expected less. *Sigh*

    Thank you to Jonathan and yllusion for their responses. :)

  15. 1. Because it is a product that they are continually working to improve.

    2. Because the WLM team directly asked for the feedback.

    3. Because that is what Microsoft does best, according to all the M$
    haters-- copy everyone's great ideas and claim them as original (I mean no
    disrespect, I certainly do not believe that is what Microsoft does).

    4. Because I want to see the product improve as much as the WLM team.

    5. Because I want to have a better experience. Just because WLM is the best
    messenger experience doesn't mean it can't be improved.

    Do I really need to continue, or did that sufficiently identify you as a
    moron?

  16. The problem with that argument is that I never, ever said that I didn't like
    WLM. I never said I didn't like the features, and I already use other IM
    programs.

    I still believe WLM is the best, and I still believe it can always get better.

  17. So what you're really telling me is that you had a bad experience with beta
    testing and are just bitter, cranky, and ignorant, so you spend all your time
    trolling just to prove a point?
