I've spent the last 5 hours trying to network my Vista build 5384 to XP SP2
through a D-Link DGL-4300. Neither computer can see the other but they can
both ping each other. I have firewalls turned off on both systems as well as
all that crazy Vista security for troubleshooting. My two XP systems can see
and share with out a problem. What am I missing here?

    If you haven't already:

    go to Start Menu
    right click My Computer
select Properties (sytstem properties opens up)
    select the Computer Name tab
click on the Change button (To rename this computer or joint a domain . . .)
    select Workgroup
set the Workgroup name to WORKGROUP

Workgroup name must be set to WORKGROUP for you to be able to see either
machine from the other (Vista beta 2 and WinXP

Well it already was workgroup, but I've tried changing the workgroup on all
of the computers to different things including of course "workgroup"

I had also a problem with my D-link DGL - 4300? I have upgraded its firmware
to 1.6. And now I haven't got any more problems with it. Maybe you can try
    it to.
