Find Album Info zaps Album Art

In my music collection, I have a number of albums where I added album art
manually. For example, when I converted an LP to digital, I entered all of
the information manually, and scanned a picture that I added as album art.
Now, when I rip a new CD and need to call "Find Album Info" it overwrites all
of these manually changed albums with the album art of the the new CD. Is
there any way to stop this from happening?
I have tried turning off features such as "Retrieve additional information
from the In ternet", and setting all album files to "read only", but nothing
    helped.

I have the same issue. It started for me after I ripped a recent purchase of
classical music. The "Find Album Info" feature failed to find the correct
album information I selected the "Edit the information manually" from within
the Find Album Info window. After that, I replaced the album art with the
correct cover that I found on Amazon. Now, anytime I use the Find Album Info
on any other album, it replaces the Album Art for all my manually entered
albums with the same incorrect art that I had replaced manually. In addition
it replaces the song names that I had tediously entered manually.

    Please help.

Turning off ‘automatic update’ should be sufficient to protect your edits.
You don’t specify how you have added the album art. Paste it (as a tag in
the file), add it as a separate pic (folder.jpg.)
By default WMP makes a folder.jpg and a AlbumArtSmall.jpg per folder
All tracks in a folder get this picture.

    Vincent,

thanks for the nice description. However, in my original case, just starting
Find Album Info for one album overwrites the Album Art for many other,
unrelated albums, even though automatic update is turned off. In addition,
even though ASF only refers to a single album, the scenario fits perfectly
    with my experience.

  5. In WMP Tools/Options Privacy tab if 'Update music files by retrieving media
info from the internet' is checked, uncheck it, click apply, OK

In my WMP, both of these settings are already in effect. That's evidently not
    enough.
