I have a Panasonic PV-DV53 mini DV Palmcorder comera and cannot get it
recognized under Windows Vista Home Basic. It comes in as an unknown device
and cannot find drivers. I have an Acer Aspire AST180-UA350B PC with 1.5 GIG
of Ram and a built in 1394 (Firewire) Port. I am current with Vista update
patches and have checked the Panasonic website for drivers, there are none
present at this time. I also sent an email request to their Tech Support for
suggestions. Will this be fixed in a Vista Service Pack or sooner?

Here's the fix .... 'Windows Vista does not enumerate an IEEE 1394
device that you connect to the computer
    (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927827/en-us

When you connect an IEEE 1394a device to a computer that is runnin
Windows Vista, Windows Vista does not enumerate the device. However, i
you connect the same device to a computer that is running Microsof
Windows XP, Windows XP enumerates the device successfully

*Note* An IEEE 1394a device may also be referred to as a FireWir
    device
