    Hello,

My PC : IE7,SP3, Windows XP Home,
My security software: Norton INS 2007, Spybot SD
    My PC connection :wireless broadband

I am getting the following message when I try to access my favorite web site.
It started 2 days ago. I have been visiting this web site for more than 4
    years
    without any problems.

I have not installed any new software and heve not changed any settings of
my PC prior to this. and I have no problem accessing any other site.

    The message said

"Forbidden. You don't have permission to access /Custom/BBS/0215272/ on this
server.Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to
use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

I have tried to fix this problem on my own but it did not work.
So far I have tried the following trouble shooting.

    *cleared cookie
*unchecked "Show friendly HTTP error messages." in advance tab in Internet
    Option.
    * Run Norton as well as Spybot . Result: No Virus or spyware found.

I was wondering if webmaster is blocking any particular IPS or a particular
    area.
I asked my sister to accsess this web page, and she was able to visit it.
But her area is not my area.
I'm in Washington state, USA and my sister is in Tokyo, Japan.
Could anyone in USA try to access following web site for me, and
let me know if you were able to accesse the web site?
It is not a dangerous site.

    http://bbs.cgiboy.com/Custom/BBS/0215272/

Also, if anyone was able to accsess this site, and if you have any solution
to this could you please let me know what I can do to fix this problem?
Of course I appreciate it if you could just tell me whether or not you was
able to accsess the web site.
    Thank you for reading this.

So, are you going to contact the webmaster?

The originating website (http://www.cgiboy.com) is in Chinese. If you
speak Chinese you will almost certainly be able to find a contact
person. (I hope you have effective, comprehensive malware software
running in the background.) Good luck.

    Thank you for your relpy.
The web site is Japanese site. and although I speak Japanese
I don't have contact information since I can not see the web site.
I did some research trying to find the webmaster
    but no luck.
Since you were able to see the site, it may be due to my PC's problem.
    Everything functioning just fine though...
You said you hope I have good malware software.
I suppose that sounds like my software spybot or norton INS 2007
    are not that..
Anyway, thank you for looking the web site for me. I appreciate it.

    P.S.

I looked up the symptoms of malware infection, and
I don't have any of these symptoms.
(pop ups, redirecting the web, home page changes,
suspicious acitivities, unknown installed software, etc...)
I will try to see if anything else is causing the issue..
    Thank you.

Mr. Grey had mentioned to me if I am going to contact
    the webmaster.
    I appreciate his idea greatly.
Unfortunately, I don't have any contact information.
I can't see the web site and could not find information
    anywhere else.
I checked for malware symptoms as well, and my PC does not
    have any symptoms of malware.

Does anyone have any idea what this might be?
Any thoughts to this issue is greatly appreciated.

I tried accessing this site with IE7 and Opera but got the same error
message (I reside in SE Asia).
    Google search:
"If you're sure the page you're trying to reach is correct, the 403
Forbidden error message may be a mistake. At this point it's probably in
your best interest to contact the webmaster or other website contact and
    inform them of the problem."
The webmaster may not be aware of this issue and your sister may be of
    assistance.
    Good luck :)

    Thank you for your reply.
I am glad I was able to get feed back from someone who received
    same message as I did.
Your reserch ability amazed me. (I tried google search with no luck.)
This web site is a cat owner forum.
    Just like you mentioned,
Perhaps the cat owner (site owner) is not aware
    of the issue.
I will contact my sister to see if she can contact the webmaster for me.
I'm relieved to know that it's not a PC mulfunction.
Again, thank you for taking time to help me.

    Yeah, sometimes I'm surprised myself!
Just Google for: 403 Forbidden error and be amazes :).
"The webmaster of most Internet sites can be reached via email at
, replacing website.com with the actual website name."
    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerrormessage/a/403error.htm
From what I understand, this is very probable.

    Please don't be sorry.
I understand they look almost identical.
If I sounded like "You should have known the difference ."
    I apologize. I didn't mean that way.
I just wanted to let you know I didn't go to shady chinese web site,
but it did not come out that way. sorry.
    (no offense to chinese people.)
As you mentioned to me earlier, I will try to contact
the webmaster.( through my sister who is able to access
    the web site. )
I couldn't think of asking my sister untill
(Mr.OR Ms.)Kayman had mentioned to me to do so.
    How dumb of me!
Again, thank you for taking time to reply to me.

    Thank you for your reply.
I took your search results and tried to use the same method.
    (using "wabmaster .com " address)
    but it didn't go through.
Perhaps this domain I used is not the main one.
But once again, I am very impresed with your search.
Also I should have thought of asking my sister for
assistance sooner. ( did not come to my mind at all.)
Thank you for helping me on this issue.

  15. ....

Forbidden is a very common response when trying to access
a site at a subdirectory level without at least having Cookies
from a previous visit. Even with Cookies from a previous visit
the site may take steps such as this response to force you to
enter the site from its Home page.

When you don't know the name of the Home page it is often
possible to guess that you will be shown it or redirected there
simply by requesting the root directory. E.g.:

    http://bbs.cgiboy.com/

That attempt to find a Home page resulted in a 403 Forbidden too. ; )
So, if there is a Homepage there you would have to know its filename
to be able to open it.

Essentially what is happening in both cases I think is that the server
has no default page for either directory and is denying us the (implicit)
request to see the contents of the directory for those levels of path
    in its file system.

Hmm... one problem that it could be using IE7 is that it would
automatically append a slash to a request. So, I decided to see
how the site would react to just a plain GET done via telnet 80.
That did result in a page which apparently displays a link to
    http://www.cgiboy.com/
I can open that and it has links in its source which could
get you closer to where you are trying to go. For example,
there is a menu at the top whose second item points here:
    http://bbs.cgiboy.com/Custom/BBS/support/
That might be where you could get some support for accessing
one of those other BBS subdirectories. ; )
FWIW I get 403 Forbidden when I click that link too.

Seeing that response also gave me the idea that either site could
be inhibiting responses to any browser which wasn't declaring
Language: ja-JP as an acceptable response. So I would try adding
that, possibly first, in your list of accepted languages.

    Good luck

    Thank you for your reply.
You did a lot of research for me. Thank you so much.
I'm sorry to say this but I am such an amature in PC tech.
(not to mention my first language is not English)
I am unable to understand some techinical part of
    what you wrote.
But I did underatand the fact that you found the main page
of this web site. and also the link you went to did not open.
(I did look the web site you posted too.
It looks like a home page for web rental subscribers.)
As for language, I have japanese language pack installed and
have it set as a second language choice in my windows XP.
You said "Forbidden" message is not uncommon.
I am relieved to hear that. because at first, I thought
something was wrong with my PC.
As I mentioned to other people, I will contact my sister
to see if she can contact webmaster for me.
Again, thank you for taking time to do all the reseach
for my problem. I appreciate it.

    Thank you for your reply.
I really appreciate that you took time to accsess
the site. since you could not accsess the site either,
I come to realize it's not just me but other people
are having the same problem as well.
This will help me to rule out each issue I have one by one.
I will try to contact the webmaster through my sister.
    (if she can)
Thank you for taking time for my problem.

    Thank you for your reply.
I appreciate that you took time to check the web site
    for me.
I'm sorry but I am such an amature in PC tech,
I will first go to find out what is "Proxy"
as well as "how to check what proxy I have" and
    "how to change it."
(As for language selection, I use Japanese
language pack for windows XP as second language.)
Thank you for helping me to solve my problem.
    I appreciate it.
