    Hi Guys,

I'm just starting with DFS. So I've installed on both DC's the DFS
management console (via Windows 2003 R2).

    I've configured 2 namespaces "\\abc.com\software" and "\\abc.com\share".

My problem is on the client side (windows xp). From time to time I don't see
the whole DFS structure. When I go to start --> run and type "\\abc.com\"
I receive only a list of "NETLOGON", "SYSVOL" and "Scheduled tasks". And I
don't get the list with "Software", "Share",..

I've installed DNS and WINS on both DC's.

    Thanks,
    Sigi

    Hello

when we face this issue, run dfsutil /pktinfo on client machine and confirm
if any dfs referrals are cached by client machine or not. confirm if we can
access \\machine\share where these referrals point to. does this issue
happnes from one client machine only or from other machines as well.

    Thanks

  3. I remember someone posting about this problem during the R2 beta... At
that point, it was more a permission error (transient) on one of the
    servers...

If the second suggestion in Ruchi's post doesn't help, also make sure
that all of the servers are synced in time. Also, whenever you see
this happen, take a look at the event logs of both the client and the
server and see if there may by chance be anything logged their.

    HTH
