FYI - Upromote

Discussion in 'Server Migration' started by TheSingingCat, Aug 16, 2004.

  1. Just a little praise to the guys who make this software and for the MSFT
that suggested it to someone else in a post awhile back. We have (had) an
older NT 4.0 BDC running on an LH Pro.. it just serves to do DHCP and
Backups right now but I really didn't want to do a reinstall of NT 4 and
have to dig up all the old drivers for it.

Running Upromote to convert it from a BDC to a Member server took ~ 10
minutes and two quick automated reboots. What a slick little tool...
granted another 30 minutes just to test it out, permissions, security etc.
but having to do a reinstall / setup / software installs / drivers / backup
job configs etc. would have been MUCH longer. Well worth $100 and a supurb
tool if you're trying to get to native mode.
