Giving Up on IE7

Discussion in 'Internet Explorer' started by fvultee, Nov 24, 2008.

  1. Hey Fvultee,

I am also on Joel's team. We are currently working on updating the fix
to include a couple of scenarios where the Internet Explorer desktop
icon does not come back after running the Fix it button in KB 945402.

    The scenarios include:
    1) Show Desktop Icons is unchecked
    a) Right mouse click the desktop
    b) Select View
    c) The option for Show Desktop Icons is unchecked
    2) Enable access to this program is unchecked
    a) Select the Start menu
    b) Select Program Defaults
    c) Select Set program access and computer defaults
    d) Select the expander option for Custom
    e) Under Choose a default web browser the option for Enable
access to this program is unchecked

I am a member of the e-mail group and didn't see
an email come through to that address about your issue. I know we are
currently not getting emails that have been sent through the blog using
the email option. I am personally looking into that to make sure we can
get that resolved as soon as possible.

I am very interested in determining how to resolve your issue so we can
make sure to address it in future releases of the Fix it for 945402.
Please send an email to and I will personally
    respond.

    Thanks,
    Brian

Robear, unfortunately it's not that simple. Not one fix on that page (you
linked below) fixes the problem for me. Sad indeed!
