I'm having problems with both of my new computers running XP with SP1. My IBM hard drives keep showing up in PIO mode instead of Ultra DMA mode 5...and they run at snail's pace.
Is this a windows problem or IBM problem. I see that the IBM drives are now handled by Hitachi and offer no solutions

  2. This newsgroup is primarily for windows Update issues.
You should taker this to a windows XP newsgroup:
    http://aumha.org/nntp.htm

Also, since the computers are new, contact your computer manufacturer.

Allthough you will probably find that the problem is not the HDD, rather the chipset driver's (especially if VIA / nVidia), pop over to the respective provider and get the latest drivers (VIA 4-in-1 usually solves there problems

    Hope tht helps
