I know this guy through the Internet only and so he calls me telling me he got malware. He was on a website called The Metal Archives and an alert window popped up "Microsoft has a detected a security threat" and it said yes or no to update. He clicked on yes and ran the program. Now his Internet is not running. The virus name is rtkt_tdss.bb. He has a Dell Inspiron 1525, by the way.

Has your friend run an antivirus and anti-spyware scan to try and remove the infection?
If he has no AV software and no internet access, downloading it on another PC to a pendrive/USB stick would be an easy option.

SuperAntiSpyware and Avira Anti-Vir are good free options to start with.
