Help wanted: Vistas "Windows Mail" and older SSL encryption method

Discussion in 'Windows Vista Mail' started by Magnus Flysjö, Oct 17, 2007.

  1. I need to access a newserver but I constantly get an error (800ccc0f) when
trying to connect. (Same connection details work in Windows XP using OE)

I was told that the SSL enryption method for the newsserver is old and that
Vista isn't supporting this anymore by default..

My question is, is there a way to go around this and enable support for
older SSL versions and encryption methods or does anyone know the reasons for
this error code I constantly get when trying to connect?

I tried to change the SSL chiper order in the group policy editor by adding
    simple DES support "TLS_RSA_WITH_DES_CBC_SHA,SSL_RSA_WITH_DES_CBC_SHA", but
I still get the same error.

Can anyone help me share some light over this?
