Help with Backu Solution

Discussion in 'Windows Server' started by Brandon Baker, Sep 8, 2005.

  1. what are my options for backing up? I am installing a W03 server at a remote
branch. I want to recover this server if it fails. Do I have to buy a tape
drive? Or is there another way?

Could I maybe buy a usb hard drive, do an automated system recover backup to
backup to floppy and put the system partion backup on the usb drive. Then if
I had a failure would i be able to recover?

  2. I assume that all you're interested in is to take a snapshot of your
installation, and that you're not concerned about data backup.
If the server fails then you wish to restore quickly to the condition
it was in some months ago.

If so then you could use an imaging program such as Acronis
TrueImage to create an image of your system drive on an ordinary
disk in a USB case. If the system fails then you would simply swap
    disks.

It is, of course, essential that you test the image after you have made it!
