Hotmail error: "We can't connect to Windows Live Hotmail right now

    Im a nontechnical user and have been getting this error message since last
    week. Been using Hotmail for years and never had any problems.

    I'm able to see my list of emails (sender & titles), but when I click on
    them or try to look in any of my folders, I get this error message. Oddly,
    I'm able to send emails no problem. I have another PC at home where Hotmail
    works fine.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Forgot to mention that I'm using XP.

    Also, I emailed Microsoft and their reply had me delete my cookies, reset
    security levels, etc, which didn't solve the problem.

    I am having the same issue. I restored to a date when I know I could open
    email, but I still can't open messages.

    i've been having this same problem and just recently resolved it. there was a
    conflict with my ad blocking software (AdSubtract)... i shut it down and
    hotmail now runs fine. it's not a perfect solution but at least i can check
    my email. hope that helps.

    I had AdSustract running, too. I shut it down and I can open messages in my
    hotmail inbox. Thanks, hutch!

    OK, so this is very weird. We have 4 users on this computer (XP SP3), all
    using the same profile. 3 can log into Hotmail, and check messages etc. 1 of
    the 4 has this issue. She can log in and see her list of e-mails, but cannot
    open any of them. We have several other computers in the house, all on the
    same private network. She can check her mail from any other computer, and
    everything works perfectly.


    - it is not a "profile" issue - we all use the same XP user profile
    - it is not a IE issue - everyone else can get into their accounts using IE
    - it is not a problem with the account - it works from every other machine
    - Hotmail is not undergoing maintenance - this has been consistent for weeks
    - I have cleaned the cache , cookies etc with Cleanup! and CCleaner - no
    - I have turned off the Windows popup blocker
    - I don't use any other type of ad blocker
    - we have rebooted the computer numerous times - it is Windows :)

    i use XP as well and had the same problem. try this:
    open IE
    go to Tools
    Internet Options

    the second drop down menu is Email.
    Click the drop down and select Hotmail.

    this worked for me. hope you have the same luck!!
