EHshell.exe crashes 1-2 times per day and I cannot find anything that is
causing it. Is there some way to troubleshoot what is causing this?

I have all the latest updates from MS and HP.

    Any ideas?

Go into Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Event Viewer, click on
Application in the left pane and then look in the right pane for any yellow
triangles with black exclamation points or red circles with white X's in
them. Those can be right-clicked, with a selection of Properties, to view a
portion of the error message. If you have specific error which correlates
to the time of your issues, perhaps that will point to a driver which you
    can update.

Mine crashes anytime my "Recorded Storage" space over 80% full. At one of
the monthy MCE Chat sessions Microsoft confirmed this is a known bug and
they have developed a fix .. no word when it will be released.

Short-term fix is to either provide more storage space.

Good tip, thanks. However, it does not apply to me. I have a 300 GB disk
with only 2 hours of programming recorded.
