I've had this error message come up too. Something about host files? The only
way i can get on is Remove all programes about windows, and download it
again, and even then my messages wont send to people?

Worked forme, although I just went in to my Netgear router, disconected from
the ISP and connected again. It still used the same DNS Servers, but MSN now
    works.

I have a Netgear router as well and following the above went to change the
DNS address. However, by just just changing to the static button without
entering an actual address and then changing back to the 'Get automatically
from ISP' it allowed me to log in straight away!

    Hi

I have went back to uni on Sunday 17th Jan and I now can't log into windows
live messgener i get the error code as above and the message says "there
might be an internet connection problem"

Now this is not true as I have internet access and get into my hotmail
    account.

I have been able to log onto messenger using the same computer and wireless
network before and it worked at home on Saturday 16th january

    Any ideas?
