How to make Scheduled TV Recording Wake a Sleeping Computer?

I am really trying to conserve energy and I would like to do so by allowing
my computer to sleep, or hibernate after a certain number of minutes of idle
time. The only problem I am having is that if the computer is a sleep, it
will skip my recordings and I will miss the shows that I have scheduled it to
record for me. I know there is a way to make certain processes wake a
computer that is asleep, but I don't know how to do it so that Scheduled TV
Recordings do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Your scheduled TV recordings are already set as an event that will
wake your computer from standby, this is a standard feature.

However, some hardware has difficulty waking properly.
First of don't use hibernate, stick to standby/sleep.

When configured for standby mode can you succesfully wake your
computer using the power putton on the remote?
(or if you dont have a remote the sleep button on your keyboard)

Make sure that this works before going further.... then
set a recording for 15mins in the future and put your PC to
sleep and see if it wakes.

Q? When in sleep mode are the fans/harddrive on your PC still spining
    or is it silent?
