    Hi,

I have run into a problem, was to upgrade Exchange to SP2 for a
customer, but IMF v1 is installed, and sure I know that it needs to be
uninstalled prior to the upgrade, the "got me" is that it neeeds to be
uninstalled from the same account that originally installed it, now
that account has been deleted, so I don´t see IMF in the "add remove
programs" at all. Surely there must be a way to uninstall it manually,
    anyone have the details?

    thx / Tony

  2. You could try reinstalling it with the real Administrator account, and
    then uninstalling it there.

The fact that you don't see the old IMF listed in AddRemove Programs most
likely means that it is not installed on your server. You'd still see it in
there even if it was installed under different credentials.

same account that originally installed it, can´t find the link right
    now though..you sure about this?

    thx / Tony

I wouldn't put money on it, no, but I've never seen any application that
won't show up in Add/Remove Programs for any user who can open said
applet...especially an MS one. Whether another user can actually uninstall
it, may be another question entirely.

Crap, I hit 'send' too fast. I had thought I modified this - ignore what I
    wrote.

Thx much Lawrence for the link, that at least showed me correct on the
assumption that IMF v1 needs to be uninstalled from same account that
    initially installed it.

This is damn strange, I wen´t ahead to install Exchange SP2 anyway,
and no error about the IMF v1 during the install, however I had error
for the "messaging and collaboration part", and afterwards when
looking in the log file I notice this!

"Service Pack 2 for Exchange Server 2003 includes an updated version
of the Microsoft Exchange Intelligent Message Filter. An earlier
version of the Exchange Intelligent Message Filter has been detected
on this system and this earlier version must be uninstalled before
    applying Service Pack 2. -- ID:64692 --"

Why the heck didn´t the install stop and warn me at all, any clue?
Anyway, I then followed "Shashanks" manual way to uninstall IMF v1,
after this rebooted and wen´t on and tried the upgrade to SP2 again,
same , but this time no sign of the error about IMF v1 left on the
system anymore, so I believe that "Shashanks" manual way to uninstall
it wen´t OK, and leeds me to suspect there´s a different Issue that
stops me from upgrading the "messaging and collaboration" part.
    Any clues on that one?
The system seems to work at least, but I wanna solve this A.S.A.P.

Oh and where can I find IMF v1, it seems vanished from the
    internet...at least I can´t find it.

    thx/Tony

Of corse I know that Don, however I don´t know exactly which keys, and
I dpn´t wanna take a chance on it as it´s a customers server, so do
    you know the exact ones?
