    Hi,

I would like to know how to map sids to usernames. I just want to do it
    interactively, not in a program.

I have hunted in the registry and in the "user management" tools and I can't
find any way of finding out this information. is there some simple command
line program like "list all sids and corresponding usernames"?

    TIA

    Andy

  3. Download the free Dumpsec from SomarSoft and use the report for users/table and
select the attributes for username and sid. --- Steve

If that does not suit your needs and you are using Windows 2003 Server or have an XP
Pro computer on the domain with Adminpak for Windows 2003 Server installed you can
use the AD command line tools such as dsquery and dsget to find user sids. For
instance dsget user -sid will display a users sid. Dsquery user can search for users
based on your criteria and pipe the results over to dsget. --- Steve
