How to move local users and local groups?

  1. I'm replacing a Windows 2000 Server and I would like to know how is the best
    way to move local users and local groups (and membership) to the new server.

    Using NTBackup, you could back up and restore the system state....and you
    could also back up & restore files/folders/shares that way, maintaining the
    security.

    Have your tried using the ADMT tools from Microsoft?

  5. The new hardware is completely different. The disks were configured
    differently too.
    Would it work?

    The best way to do this is by using Secure Copy.
    http://www.scriptlogic.com/products/securecopy/
    This tool can move between servers, not only users & groups but shares
    & permissions also. I've successfully used it in an emergency data
    migration from my server.
