    Env. Windows 2003 AD + SP1

While deleting the DFS namespaces from the MMC and trying to recreate them I
encountered an error that indicated that the share already exists.

Of the course the share exists and I do not want to change the
ACL/permissions on it so what can be done ???

It is not like it was a brand new and blank share, data is already in it.

    Regards,

    Luis-M.

    1. Create new namespace
    2. Create a Folder under the namespace
    3. Right-click on the folder you created and select Add Target Folder
    4. Browse to the existing share that has the data

You can't have two folders in the same root level, in the same namespace,
named the same. The DFS namespace structure is it's own structure on your
namespace servers (namespace servers are NOT the same as the target share
servers). The Active Directory namespace structure may still exist in your
namespace server if you didn't delete correctly.

    Hope this helps.

You can't have two folders in the same root level with the same name, even
    it isn't a target folder.
