How to stop Messenger opening when logging into Hotmail

    Hi

I've searched on various MS groups for a solution to the problem of
Messenger running automatically whenever I log in to Hotmail but with no joy
except for one thread from 2005 saying nothing can be done.

As it is now 2 years later has this problem been addressed? I have
Messenger set not to load at start-up and not to log in automatically and
all is fine until I go to check my Hotmail when Messenger starts up by
itself. My firewall then blocks Messenger and the page I'm loading hangs
    until I stop Messenger.

I do use Messenger from time to time so uninstalling it is not an option. I
just want to be able to control the programs on my computer myself without
them deciding that they are going to access the internet whether I like it
or not. It's especially annoying when I have set the program not to run
automatically but whoever programmed it decided that this setting isn't
    always going to apply.

    Any help most welcome!

    DavidB.

  2. Greetings David,

Hm, I got an idea but just to clarify, which version of Messenger and which version of
    Windows are you using?
