I have been reading the posts re the problems with IE7 Beta 3 and HP Director
and Norton as I have them both, exactly as described. I also have problems
    printing from Outlook.

Most times, but not always, I receive “Script Error†messages…..whatever
    they are.

Following the various threads, I prefer to uninstall Beta 3 and install Beta
2, which worked great before and continues to work without problems on the
other 4 family computers (reverting to IE6 is not my preference but not

Unfortunately, I installed Beta 3 immediately after a clean reinstall of XP
Pro. The list of programs “which may not work after an uninstall†(as advised
by Control Panel – Add or Remove Programs) is rather large.

Are they likely to work again after installing Beta 2 (or IE6) or should I
prepare myself to reinstall everything else?

I would be most grateful for advice and an “idiot’s guide/ best practice†to
uninstall Beta 3, especially the pitfalls. (I have already uninstalled update
    to Beta 3 – KB922880).

    Release Notes:
Uninstalling Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3

To uninstall Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3 and return to Internet Explorer 6 on
Windows XP or Windows Server 2003

Click “Start,†and then click “Control Panel.â€
    Click “Add or Remove Programs.â€
Scroll down to "Windows Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3", select it, and then
    click "Change/Remove".
If you cannot find any Internet Explorer 7 entry in "Add or Remove
    Programs", run
%windir%\ie7beta3\spuninst\spuninst.exe. (To do this, you need to have "view
    hidden folders" enabled.)

Thanks Pat.... I had read the previous threads and had already reached "Add
    or Remove" Programs".

My question relates to the "warning" about removing/uninstalling IE7.
Specifically the approx 30 programs, updates and hotfixes etc. installed
    after IE7.

Let me more specific in my question: If I uninstall IE7 Beta 3 will my
system revert to IE6 and will my other programs work or will I have to
    reinstall them again?

Many thanks...took the plunge and as far as I can see, so far, everything is
running normally with IE6 (HP Director, Norton IS Antispyware and I can even
    print in Outlook 2003).

However, I'm already missing the tabs!!!!!.

Yes, I fully agree that the warning is perhaps too strong but if I were MS
then I guess that I would also apply the maximum CYA philosophy.

As an outpoint, and having read many complaints in the IE7 threads about ,
Norton, HP and MS, it appears to me that the complainants are too harsh and
their criticisms not justified....surely no one is to blame . Norton & HP
worked fine with non Beta IE6 and they would both appear to be trying to
arrange fixes. MS have released a Beta for testing and that is what we are
doing... even non techies; like me.

OK, MS could have tested IE7 with Outlook printing...but here again.... it's
    a Beta!!!

Anyway....let's just give thanks for this Newsgroup/Forum and all you great
contributors.....this is my 2nd fully solved problem in less than 2 weeks....
    fantastic ......thanks again.
