Howto extract font subset for embedding?

Discussion in 'Windows Vista Drivers' started by Christoph Lindemann, Jun 24, 2004.

  1. Hi Everyone,

I would like to embed fontdata in documents. For this I am able to retrieve
the fontdata, but as the document typically only uses a subset of the font,
I would like to extract the used subset for embedding, and that way save
    space in the document file.
I know Adobe PDF does this.

Are there any Windows API functions I could use for this?
Or do I need to do it the hard way by extracting the relevant data from the
truetype file, and then reassemble it into a new file? If this is the only
way, does anyone have example code for this?

Any suggestions and tips are highly appreciated.

    Best regards,
    Christoph Lindemann
