I am having a problem with this box that keeps poping up saying...

    Media Center Receiver Service has encountered a problem and needs to close.
    We are sorry for the inconvenience. And it keeps poping up over and over and
    over. I can't get it to go away. I wanna know if there is a way to fix the
    problem without affecting my Windows Media Center program. Thanks.

    Run the Event Viewer and see if there are any error messages relating to the
    Receiver Service.

    I have the same problem. It's driving me crazy because it just started right
    after I did a bunch of updates. So, I dont know which one could have caused
    it. Have you done updates recently? Maybe we can narrow it down to something.

    Hey guys,

    I just recently purchased and installed Roxio Easy Media Creator 8 on my
    computer and right after I restarted my computer I started receiving all of
    the errors that you guys are getting. I was unable to watch tv because the
    tuner hardware or driver was not found. I also received the other message
    every minute or so about the service receiver having to shut down. I tried
    everything from unistalling the driver and reinstalling to speaking with HP
    customer care which told me to do the same thing. So, I uninstalled the Roxio
    software and everything works fine. Go figure! I hope this may help someone.

  5. I'm not sure what the root of your problem is but I have Roxio versions 7
    and 8 on my MCE 2005 and get no popups... and everything works just fine.
    If you can live without Roxio, then that's your business but I'd definitely
    look elsewhere for the cause, because I doubt it's the Roxio application(s)
