  1. Hi, I am starting to really like my Ultimate sp1 full version . Though
I am new to this coming from XP pro and I am curious how to use the
Aero feature . Can someone explain how ? Thanks

Assuming that you have already seen screen-shots of the Aero theme, let me
tell you that the Aero user inter-face is automatically turned on based on
your WEI (Windows Experience Index) score (unless of course you manually
revert back to the Vista Basic theme). Please provide the complete and wholly
accurate technical hardware configuration/specifications of your system to
    the fullest extent possible.
    Also,while in Vista,press `Windows key+Pause/Break` to open the `System
    properties` window.There you will see a `Rating` field under the `System`
category.Click on the link next to the number displayed as the score to open
a new window titled `Performance Information and Tools`.In there, below the
table, there should be a link `View and print details`.Click on it to open a
full-screen window where all relevant information about various components
is displayed. If possible, print that page to a file and attach it in your
    reply.

I have no doubt to state that your system is definitely (more than) capable
of the Aero theme.Your WEI rating too reflects this.Probably you have not
yet seen screen-shots of the Aero theme and you are already running it OR
you unknowingly manually reverted back to the Vista Basic theme. Please post
a screen-shot of a few non-maximised and overlapping windows arranged on
your desktop so that I can know what theme are you running.

Well, this address of mine which I reflect in my identity too happens to be
my actual e.-mail address only and in fact in my account junk mail filtering
is set to the lowest level, yet I receive absolutely no spam there even after
I have sent more than 45 messages so far after joining this news-group.
Microsoft Office Outlook does not support news-group accounts yet.In that
case,I guess you are reading news-groups using `Outlook Express` in XP.
I use Windows Mail in Vista to participate in the news-groups (which you
call as rooms) and atleast in Windows Mail I need not necessarily give out
my real e.-mail address to other participants of the news-group.

Well, this address of mine which I reflect in my identity too happens to be
    You will.

Below is a clip for my mail server. I used to use
frankREMOVEALLCAPS.<myvaliddomain>.com. As you can see below, newsgroup bots
picked up on the address and started sending me all kinds of spam. I've
since learned to use a truly non-existent domain name rather than my own
valid domain. Hint, when you choose a bogus email address DO NOT use
ANYONE'S actual valid domain name (i.e. ). Instead
use a totally bogus domain name (i.e. ). This way, no
one is hurt by having to bounce invalid emails. They'll just go
    non-delivered completely. Better.

  7. Hi Frankster . This is how I use to make post with Microsft newsgroup
    http://groups.google.com/groups/dir?hl=en?lr&sel=usenet=microsoft.public.windows.vista
Now how would I use type and also be able to sign in ? I mean don't I
need a real google email account to be able to sign in ? And yes I
like using this type to view newsgroups . Can I make a bogus address
and still sign in ? Because this one now that I am using is really a
bogus account , I don't plan to ever open any emails from it but if I
can do as to what you are suggesting then that good to , Can I ?
    Thanks

You are welcome.Aero is just a graphical theme/color scheme in all editions
of Windows Vista except the Home Basic and probably the Starter too.It is
probably the most talked-about feature of Vista's user-interface.It is not
the name of any program which is meant to be used in some manner. It does add
a lot of cool effects to your Windows (and windows as well, note the
difference),the most famous one being that of the 3-D Flip, which is
accessible from the Quick Launch tool-bar in the Task-bar.If you notice a
certain degree of glass-like translucency in the window decorations/borders
while moving windows over one another, you probably are already running the
Aero color scheme. To confirm,right-click on any empty area of the desk-top
and select `Personalise`.In the new window, choose `Windows Color and
Appearance`.If a new dialog box pops up,you are running the Windows Vista
Basic color scheme. However,if no new window appears and you instead see a
set of colored boxes in the window, you are already running Aero.

IOW, it's a half-assed attempt at putting Compiz-Fusion into Windows.
Linux has had this feature for years and MS is just playing catch up
with Vista and not catching up too well.

  10. Ok, I'm not sure if a new dialog box pops up or not but once I click
on it something has to change , right ? I did see a few color options
to change colors . I'm still uncertain , thanks any ways .

  11. And your point is ? Whether Microsoft has this or that who cares as
long as they make a good software to use . I am starting to get the
hang of this software and lovin it . Remember one thing , who is the
giant here ? They will always be to , So you can bash MS all you
want , I am sure it ain't going to hurt them at all , right ? We
either going to live with the giant or what ? This is the world we are
in as of for now . So your probably better off to learn how to deal
with it . They ain't going to change any time soon .

  12. there is nothing to use with aero.. it's a stupid 3d desktop that only turns
on some display effects like glass windows...

sure the underlying technology could be used for more but now its just
    basically a theme.

Its like asking how to use LUNA the blue theme from XP

Those who pay for Vista are fools when a free and better alternative is
    available.
When they make good software, let me know.
    Ever hear of herd mentality?
Ever hear of David and Goliath?
I assume you mean "too". That's what Enron said.
    I already told you.
You mean it's the world you're in.
    I have. I'm running Ubuntu.
All the more reason to check out Linux.

  14. If Aero was so groovy, one would think one could tell if one has it
    running or not.

Watch the comparison between Vista and Ubuntu:

Yeah, like in Ubuntu Compiz, you have four or more desktops. With Vista,
you get the grand total of one.

  16. After this post I'm going to stop dealing with you because its clear
you didn't understand when I said you're probably better off to learn
how to deal with it . You see in this world that you and I are in ,
yes you ! we are just ants towards this system that is in place of us
now. So either you learn to live with it or keep being miserable .
Yep , that right you are .

You have no idea what you're talking about. You have no idea what Areo
is actually used for. You don't have nor do you run Vista and it shows.

    Yes I do.
It's called "eye candy". Look it up.
Why would *anyone* want to mess up a computer and put Vista on it? Give
me one good reason (you can't; all you can do is spew crap all over the
place as your reply to this post will prove).
