this is wierd problem, if I type a site adress in IE7's adress bar and hit
enter or click the green arrow, nothing happens. The only way I can get to
websites is by either clicking on a link to them or by typing the adress in
Window Explorer, which opens up an IE window and goes to the site. Also any
favorites I add don't show up in the favorites box, only in the Favorites
    drop down menu.

I tried going back to IE6, which fixed the problem, but then I treid
reinstalling IE7, and the problem came back.

    Hi,
You may have an incompatible browser add-on.
    See: http://www.enhanceie.com/ie/troubleshoot.asp
    for troubleshooting information.

The troublesome program may not show up as an add-on. Disable other
security, privacy, ad-blocking, appearance tweaking programs to see if one
of them is causing the problem. Any program that interacts with Internet
Explorer could be causing this. The connection with IE may not be obvious,
    such as Google Desktop.

A firewall will probably not be causing this problem, but be sure to turn on
the Windows Firewall from Control Panel> Windows Firewall before disabling a
third-party firewall or security suite during testing.

    Hope this helps,
    Don

Thanks for the reply, I fixed it, turns out I had a second firewall running
that i'd forgotten about when I installed a new one, got rid of the old one
    and that did it.
