I have 12 icons on the lower right of the bottom bar and have been told
having all of them really slows up the booting up process -- it just seems to
take forever. I have also been told you can remove the icons for the
programs that are seldom used but not remove the program from the computer
and will in turn really speed up the booting up process. I don't know how to
remove those icons and would appreciate any help someone could provide. I am
a bit "computer challanged" so it has to be told in some pretty simple terms.
    Thanks in advance. Joel

  2. In the run line type "msconfig" in msconfig press the start tab, you can
uncheck the programs you do not won't at startup.
Do not go nuts and uncheck every program just the programs you know and
    understand.

    Joel,
Along with what Richard has mentioned I would reccommend that you purchase a
"Book" for your particular OS. A few years back I had no clue on how to even
attach a mouse to the computer without thinking I may screw something up.
Today I can put together my own computer from scratch. No, I'm not a "Super
Geek" but I do feel confident with what I am doing along with a book and the
fine people within this forum. The book comes in especialy handy when you
    can't connect to the internet.
