ICW fails configuring firewall...

Okay, I know a lot of people have run into this problem. I have read every
post regarding this issue I think. I've tried the whole changing ip settings
on the default web site, and adding the cname localhost, and every other
thing I seen that helped someone else. Needless to say none of them helped
me. Everything works fine, meaning the website, remote, owa, etc... however
I'm trying to make //companyweb visible outside the lan. When I run ICW it
fails configuring the firewall regardless of what I do. I did see an article
on how to configure everything manually, but I'm trying to keep it simple for
the client. Below is the ipconfig /all and the relevant section of the log...
looking for ideas... thanks in advance for your assistance...

The SBS server is connected to a router which is static ip... I have
forwarded port 444 to the server. When I go to https://domainname.com/:444 I
get the page cannot be found error. As I said everything else is working
properly so it must be something simple that I'm over-seeing...

  2. Hi Rick,

There must be more the the log file, look for any 'error'.
    One nic or two?
    ISA or not ?

  3. OK, I see it's two nics, no ISA.

Can you find more errors in the log?

Yes to two nics, and no to ISA. I can't find any other errors in the logs...
below is the last two logs from when I have tried to run... I have rebooted
between attempts to see if that made any difference...

  5. I see this error first, but I don't know the significance of it.

Error 0x1 returned from call to RegisterMSBOExchangeBP().

Here's a couple of things to check, while I do some further research.

On the external adapter do you have any incorrect entries for DNS or WINS
or are they pointing to the servers ip address?

Do you get any error messages when you click ok on the network adapters
    after you change configurations?

You might have a nonpresent adapter in the system to check

    1. Click Start, click Run, type "cmd.exe" (without the quotation marks),
    and then press ENTER.

    2. Type "set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1" (without the quotation
    marks), and then press ENTER.

    3. Type "Start DEVMGMT.MSC" (without the quotation marks), and then press
    ENTER.

    4. Click View, and then click Show Hidden Devices.

    5. Expand the Network Adapters tree.

    6. Right-click the dimmed network adapter, and then click Uninstall. Do
NOT remove the RAS async adapter.

  6. This shows promise as well, especially if you have been 'adjusting' things
    in IIS.

    Try this:

Open the Internet Services Management snap-in.

Open the properties of the default web site.

Go to the IP Address and Domain Name Restrictions setting and change the
    setting.
(just do the opposite of what is set).
If it is currently set to grant all, change it to deny all except for the
    local IP and
    subnet mask of the server.

Select all to apply the change to all subwebs.
Select all again to apply the change all the way down.

Running the CEICW now should be successful.
Based on your input, it will reset the IP and domain name restrictions
    accordingly.

Confirm that the IP and domain name restrictions are back to where they
    should be.
