IE 7.0 Beta3 setup does not allow to install if using Beta2

Discussion in 'Internet Explorer' started by Lorenzo Jimenez, Jun 30, 2006.

  1. I have IE 7.0 Beta2.

When installing Beta3 the system says:

"Internet Explorer 7 is already installed on this computer. Please use 'Add'
or Remove Programs' in the Control Panel to uninstalled it"

I have done that and also using the add/remove windows components, and the
    message keeps appering.

    Thanks,
    Lorenzo Jimenez

Did you uninstall IE7B2 before trying to install IE7B3?

You should uninstall IE7B2 via Add/Remove programs before installing IE7B3.
Once you have successfully removed IE7B2, then install IE7B3.

Also, you may not know this. Under Add/Remove Programs, check the box that
says Show Updates. That's the only way you'll see the beta. Don't use
    Add/Delete Windows Components - that won't work.

Then support page should be updated. Currently it states that if using Beta2
is *not* necessary to check the "Show Updates"

Here's a portion of the point on IE7 Beta support page,

"Uninstalling previous beta versions of Internet Explorer 7 before
installing Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3
To uninstall a previous beta version of Internet Explorer 7 and return to
Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP

    1. Click "Start," and then click "Control Panel."
    2. Click "Add or Remove Programs."
    3. Check "Show Updates" at the top of the dialog box.
    4. Scroll down the list and highlight the version of Internet Explorer 7
beta that you are running, and then click "Change/Remove." (If you are
running Ineternet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview -- March 20 or later, it is not
    necessary to check "Show Updates.")"
