In the company's Xp machine, the IE proxy page is dimmed out but I
know the proxy is being used to access the external pages. In the LAN
Setting page I can see the "Automatically detect settings" is checked
even though all the items are grayed out. All the other items in the
page are not checked (like, Use automatic configuration script, and
    the items under Proxy server).

Looks like to me this is done through the group policy to prevent the
user from changing the proxy settings and it is fine with me. But I
need to troubleshoot one http connection issue and I would need to
know what proxy we are using when accessing different web servers
(like external sites, website in DMZ etc).

Do we have a way to get the info ?

    Thanks.
