I have IE 7 deployed on a corporate network. I have used IEAK to set default
home pages in tabs for users. Occasionally, frequently after IE 7 patches
are applied I think, when users launch IE 7, the home page redirects to a
Microsoft site announcing a beta of IE 8. On the next IE launch, everything
is back to the regular home page. I would rather my corporate users not be
encouraged to download beta software. Does anyone know why this happens and
if there is a setting in IE that I can set so that it doesn't happen anymore?

  2. You need a GPO do disable this option:

IE Tools | Internet Options | Advanced | Browsing | Automatically check for
    IE updates
