IE7 and Vista - cannot display web page

Discussion in 'Windows Vista General Discussion' started by Steve Barnett, Apr 12, 2007.

  1. I'm having trouble with an "Internet Explorer cannot display the web page"
    from an application I'm writing.

    The app generates an index.htm file that defines a frame set consisting of
    four frames. When I double click on the index.htm on my local PC, the four
    frames are displayed, but they all contain the 'cannot display' error
    message. When I copy the pages to a web site, they all display correctly, so
    it appears to be a local issue.

    Each of the individual pages load and display Ok, it's just when they're in
    a frame set.

    Does anyone know of any problems in this area and what I can do to get the
    system up and working again please? I've tried this out on a different Vista
    PC and don't get the problem, so guess it's a setting somewhere.

    The index.htm contains:

    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"
    "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>Exported Model Data</title>
    </head>
    <frameset rows="100,360,*" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" framespacing="0"
    noresize border="0"
    onload="window.moveTo(0,0);window.resizeTo(screen.availwidth,
    screen.availHeight);" language="JavaScript" >
    <frame src="brand.htm" name="right" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0"
    noresize scrolling="NO" border="0" >

    <frameset cols="650,*" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" framespacing="0"
    frameborder=yes noresize border="0">
    <frame src="tree.htm" name="left" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0"
    noresize scrolling="no" border="0" >
    <frame src="instruct.htm" name="main2" >
    </frameset>
    <frame src="blank.htm" name="main" frameborder=yes >
    </frameset>
    </html>

    Thanks
    Steve
