I have read many many posts saying they want to have the ability for IE7 to
automatically reopen the previous Tabs when closing.

I have not heard of a Add-on or anything that can arrange this.

I have been faithful to IE and got in the habit of selecting "Open these
tabs when...." everytime I close IE7. Now I do ALOT of browsing, opening
closing and following links, reading something and it has a link for more
information so I right-click that so I can look at it later.... and so on so
using favorites would be a joke, and to much of a hassle as when I reopen the
next time I go through them and usually close them after I read them, sure
some get saved, but not many.

SO I will try to spin the question/request another way, can you make an
option under IE that will detect when someone else, like your spouse or child
happens to quickly use your browser to "look something up" and then
accidently close the browser when they are done, leaving me with an empty
browser the next time I log in.

Now I know the most people have suggested that I go with another Browser,
Firefox does that if you ask it to, Opera does that by default... and so on.

So my questions is, Should I just stop using IE7, as it appears I dont have
the pointy hair that programmers do, so I do not understand the logic they

I was just thinking it might be more likely I can get MS to make another
popup saying "If you are not the normal user for this Account/Browser, please
check with the individual and make sure if they would appreciate having you
close all opened tabs without saving" And then followup with an "Are you
    sure you got their permission?"

Thank you for your time and I hope I have not offended any developers, I am
jsut a low IQ person that needs guidance.

The following is from the IE 7 Help file:

"How do I save a group of tabs?

To save a group of tabs, click the Add to Favorites button, and then
click Add Tab Group to Favorites. Give the group a name, select the
folder that you want the group to be stored in, and then click Add."

"How do I open a saved group of tabs?

Click the Favorites Center button, and then click the Favorites button.
Navigate to the folder that contains the tab group you want to open, and
then click the arrow to the right of the folder name. All of the
webpages will open on separate tabs."

"I want to close Internet Explorer but I have a lot of tabs open. Is
there anything I can do to make them re-open the next time I start
    Internet Explorer?

Yes. When you close Internet Explorer, you will be asked whether you
want to close all tabs. When the prompt appears, click Show Options,
select Open these the next time I use Internet Explorer, and then click
Close Tabs. When you reopen Internet Explorer the tabs will be restored."

    Hi Drokare,

This is how I set up IE7 (it suits the new generation of computers with wide
I always have the Favorites Center open("pinned" in place so that it is
there when I restart the browser) with the History pane selected to display
    "By order visited today"

That way whenever I restart the browser I can quickly select the last pages
I have visited and continue with what I was doing.

Leonard, I am glad you have the stock answer ready for pasting, your response
did not help in the least. I am not going to go through all the steps for
what happens as a daily ritual. Why can't the option "open these the next
time I open Internet Explorer" just be default, not have to be selected
    everytime I close the window.

Rob, I thought of the history option, but as I say I read and scour many
pages an hour some being opened to other tabs to look at later, until I get
what I need on what I am focusing on. When I tried using the history in the
past, it meant going and I am not kidding at least 50 to 60 sites to remember
where I was at... That is not a viable solution.

Firefox and Opera have done this for sometime, Opera in this case for years.
IE7 has the option, you just cant set it to default... if you going to make
it an option, then make it an option, not just a nagging popup.

    Hi Dr Okare,

Thanks for the feedback to our responses. Hopefully some spark out there
will come up with an extension for IE7 to do this for you, or MS will see
fit to include it in updates for IE.

There is a utility called QuickLaunch from that allows
you to create tab groups as desktop shortcuts, but this is short of the type
    of functionallity you desire.
