It is the Spy Sweeper - the same as my shields. Do you think I should
disable the anti-virus also? I just feel like I'm asking for trouble.
Besides, I paid a pretty penny for it. - CAT

Did you rename the HOSTS file?

AFAIK, no version of Spysweeper comes with an anti-virus component that
    offers real-time protection.

Besides renaming the HOST file to OLD, when I went to a link to an MSNBC
article this morning, THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM IS BACK!! It is following along
    with both IE6 and IE7.

Install an anti-virus application, update its definitions, reboot into Safe
Mode and run a full system scan.

The Webroot Spy Sweeper I have also has an anti-virus app. that I use and I
will update the defs. Then I will do a reboot in SAFE mode and run a scan
this evening. I REALLY would like to go back to IE7 when all is said and
    done. - CAT

    I stand corrected. I assume you're running

Required reading IMHO before installing IE7:

Sandi's Installation Tips <= FOLLOW THESE TIPS TO THE LETTER!

[And I strongly recommend using as the
    installation source, not Automatic/Windows Update.]
