My web application is typically run in the Trusted Sites security zone, but
    not always.

In the Trusted zone, you can display pop-ups without an address bar but then
the URL shows in the title bar instead of my title.

We decided that it is better to show an address bar then to have the URL in
the title. The question is, is there a way to show the read-only version of
    the address bar through code?

I know I can get the read-only address bar if I remove the site from the
Trusted zone and set location=no in the window.open function , but again,
most users run my app as Trusted.

    Hi Evan,

Short answer is no. Show Address bar and status bar and allow status bar
scripted messages are settings for each of the Security Zones. You can't
access registry settings from a web page. (except for some external object
    methods).

Use Group Policy to ensure that these settings are configured in the Trusted
Zone for workstations on your network, and that your site is in the Trusted
    Zone list.

    Regards.
