IE7 won't close from right-click/close

Discussion in 'Internet Explorer' started by Sebastian Trandafir, Jan 7, 2008.

  1. So, it's kinda awkward to ask this question, but whenever I try to close IE7
on Vista Home Premium 32 using the right-click/close method, it simply
doesn't happen. ALT+F4 works fine, clicking on the upper right X works
    fine... i'm wondering :-??...
It's not a major concern... but I'd really like to know what this is about :)
    Thanks a bunch. cheers.

    Hi,
You may have an incompatible browser add-on.
    See: http://www.enhanceie.com/ie/troubleshoot.asp
    for troubleshooting information.
    More at:
IEBlog Troubleshooting and Internet Explorer’s (No Add-ons) Mode:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2006/07/25/678113.aspx

The troublesome program may not show up as an add-on. Disable other
security, privacy, ad-blocking, appearance tweaking programs to see if one
of them is causing the problem. Any program that interacts with Internet
Explorer could be causing this. The connection with IE may not be obvious.

A firewall will probably not be causing this problem, but be sure to turn on
the Windows Firewall from Control Panel> Windows Firewall before disabling a
third-party firewall or security suite during testing.

You might also try disabling other (not specific to IE) shell
    extensions/context menu items.
ShellExView - Shell Extension Manager For Windows:
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html can be very helpful in this
    troubleshooting process.

    Hope this helps,
    Don
