Rubbish. I've installed three of the most common distros (Kubuntu,
PCLinuxOS and SLED 10) both on my laptop (Toshiba Tecra 9000) and my
desktop (Acer F1 with external Firewire HDD and external CDRW drive) and
ALL my hardware worked as normal out of the box. In fact setting up my
printer server was EASIER in Linux than in windows and I didn't need to
install any third-party drivers for it - it just worked "out of the box"

You obviously haven't used Linux in about three or more years? NONE of
the popular distros need "command line installs" any more. Haven't for ages.

Again complete and utter RUBBISH. All the most commonly-used distros
    have a windows-like update function.
Again TOTAL and COMPLETE RUBBISH! Where the HELL have you got all this
from? Linux in the main doesn't even need to reboot after installing
    anything, unlike Windows!
Again rubbish. OO is easily the equivalent of MS Office 2002.....
And I suggest YOU do some serious research and learning before
    propagating such unadulterated RUBBISH.
