I have a existing Windows 2000 single label Domain AD/DNS Server running SQL
server. I plan to get a new SBS 2003 server and use it for its Exchange
operation. I have about 30 Workstations 2K Proff. Can I make my SBS server
2003 a domain controller to serve DNS and AD in addition to Exchange
functions and more important to keep existing server to coexist on the
network which is Windows 2000 by demoting DC and joining to a new Domain.

    Thanks

    Hi Imtiaz,

Yes, you can do this. You may join a Windows 2000/2003 server to SBS
network. I am not entirely sure of how much you will nedc to remove from the
Windows 2000 server to get it to join another domain. It is likely you may
need to remove Active Directory in it's entirety.

Another thing to keep in mind: Once you move all of your users to the SBS
machine you will need 30 CALS for them to all access the new domain. Be sure
to register the CALs in per seat mode so that you will have access to both
    servers.

    I hope this helps.
