well i went from IE7B3 to IE7RC1, and after having lots of problems with
..dll's, i managed to fix it, although IE didn't work, and i have now purged
IE completely from my PC, however as i now try to install IE7RC1 it tells me
that something else want s me to reboot, and that i should reboot and try
    again, but nothing helps!

What's worse, System Restore or formatting & reinstalling Windows (a Repair Install will only make matters worse)?

it will restore the machine to its condition when the restore point was created (i.e., before installing IE7 RC1).

It doesn't delete anything. System Restore returns your Registry to its state when the Restore Point was created. See the link I posted earlier.

well luckily i started fooling around with the registry (trying to disable
the "last accessed" thing to get a little boost in speed) and backed it up
before hand, because i had to do a system restore, that requires IE, so didnt
work, but i restored the Registry, and now have IE6 back!

Question - should i try to install IE7?
