Is there any way to run 16-bit programs on Windows Vista (easily)? Any hacks?

  1. Is there any emulation mode or any way to run applications with 16-bit
code? I have an app that installs but will not run. Thanks.

  5. Hi Rick:

I do not have Vista yet. A friend has it and said he has a 16-bit app
that loads but will not run. I was holding off and staying with XP
until I am sure I can run 16-bit apps on Vista.

There is a 32-bit mode you can go into to run 16-bit apps? Is it a
button in Vista you can click on? Can you run just one Window in 32-
    bit? Many thanks.

    Hi Howard,

Vista runs in either 32 or 64 bit mode, depending on the version you
install. Most install the 32-bit version, which will run many 16 bit apps
without any adjustments. For those that don't run natively, there is a
compatibility tab in properties of the file to run in an emulated evironment
    of say Win98.
