    Everyday for the last week I am prompted by Windows Update
    to install KB832483. What is going on? Anyone else have
    this problem?

  2. Hi

    Most likely because you have an too old version of MDAC installed.

    From http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/Bulletin/MS04-003.asp

    <quote>
    Prerequisites

    This security update requires that you have any one of the following
    MDAC versions installed:

    MDAC 2.5 Service Pack 2
    MDAC 2.5 Service Pack 3
    MDAC 2.6 Service Pack 2
    MDAC 2.7
    MDAC 2.7 Service Pack 1
    MDAC 2.7 Service Pack 1 Refresh
    MDAC 2.8
    </quote>

    I suggest you upgrade to MDAC 2.8 and see if it solves the problem, you can
    find the download link here:

    http://www.microsoft.com/data

    If KB832483 then is installing successfully, after the reboot offered by the
    update, you should run the following command from Start\Run:

    regsvr32.exe "%ProgramFiles%\Common Files\System\Ole DB\oledb32.dll"

    Yes - using w2000 - have had an automatic update notice
    each day also loaded manually from the web and still I get
    the notice. Checked my history and sure enough it has 4
    instances of KB32483 being loaded. Any solutions?

    The patch is for MDAC 2.52, 2.53, 2.62, 2.70, 2.71 or 2.80 so if you want to
    upgrade to one of those versions that should fix the problem for you.
    Otherwise you will have to ignore the update until the fix is published.

    I am also having the same problem. My history shows that I
    have installed it every weekday since Jan. 14. I am also
    using W2000. Looks like Microsoft needs to fix this
    problem.
