  2. Which of those OSes do *you* have?

    Looked through any of ther previous postings around the Internet about it?
    http://groups.google.com/groups/search?as_q=953297

    How about the actual article surrounding the update?
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/953297

    The latter has this offer:

    the United States and Canada or by contacting your local Microsoft

    the following Microsoft Web site:
    http://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?&prid=7552

    </quote article>

    Also has a link to this web page:

    When you try to install an update for the .NET Framework 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0,
    or 3.5, you may receive Windows Update error code "0x643" or Windows
    Installer error code "1603"
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923100/

    Where the latter seems to be pretty much what you are describing and gives
    two different methods you should try and report the results of here after
    you try them. ;-)
