Is it possible to enable kerberos for a workgroup server? Or must it join a
    domain?

  2. Kerberos is not possible in a workgroup.
Kerberos is a service running on DC's.
Member servers, workstations, domain users and services use kerberos for
    authentication service.

  3. Hello pxb,

No. Active Directory is required for default Kerberos implementations.
