Hi There, I really hope someone can help me out. This has been very
    frustrating.

I bought the Media Center Extender by Linksys, connected it, installed the
software, everything was working perfectly. (connected through a Dlink
    Wireless A/G Router, using 802.11A)

The problem came 3 days later, all of a sudden all of the menus, videos,
etc. changed to monochrome. I can see everything but in B/W. I called
linksys, and after 2 hours on the phone, they didn't have a clue on what to
    do. We tried everything... including:
    - Resetting the device (no help)
    - Using the RCA video as opposed to the Svideo (Same thing)
    - Using Component Video (same thing)
    - Updating the firmware (no change)
    - Turning off the Extender and back on again (no change, even the extender
bootup screen is black and white)

So I returned it to the store and got another one. I installed the new one,
and everything is working perfect! 4 days later, same thing... only this
time the color comes and goes as it feels like. It is defintely not the TV,
I plug in my DVD using the same cable and it works perfectly.

At this point, I am not sure what it can be! I could really use some help!
So thanks in advance on any suggestions.

    Thanks!!!

First, I've never heard of such a problem before.
Second, I think it's highly unlikely that you could
have gotten two extenders with the same defect.

That leads me to conclude that the problem is probably
in your TV set. Do you have another TV set you could
    use to prove/disprove this theory?

    Thanks Bob,

I checked the TV... I connect the svideo cable from the extender and plug
it in to my DVD, and everything works perfectly!

From what I was able to see so far, after I turn off the extender for an
extended period of time... the color is back... however, 10 minutes into
using it... I lose the color again... Can it be an overheating problem of
    some sort???

    Thanks!

  5. The B&W video behavior is seen when the video selector switch on the back of
the MCX is set to a different type of video than what you're actually using
(for example, it's set to s-video, but you're plugged in via component).
Note that you need to power-cycle the MCX via the rocker switch on the back
after you change the position of this selector.
