When I place my mouse over the network icon, by the clock, it says:
"Currently connected to Network. Access: Local Only" Other times it
says: "Currently connected to Network. Access: Local and Internet".
My question is: Why the difference? When it says: "Local Only", my
    internet works fine. Thanks.

try setting a static IP on your internet NIC may fix the problem with the
NCSI (network connectivity status indicator) showing 'local only' when
internet is still available... worked for me, could be related to specific
    modem/router, vista and DHCP?
